Choque Cultural at O Contemporary Gallery

cor da rua (street colour) is our 2-month, 10-artist celebration of the best in Brazilian urban art, considered by many to be the most significant genre in the global urban art movement. In association with sao paulo's choque cultural, ocontemporary has been transformed into a corner of sao paulo, with the artists creating murals upon our walls and presenting their work for sale in their own unique way.

About Choque Project

Choque Cultural is a contemporary art gallery that has a strong link with underground culture, showing pop, outsider, young languages in original, true style. Since its first show, in 2004, Choque has become a safe harbor for artists coming from such different places as tattoo, graffiti, graphic design and illustration among others. Choque Cultural is based in Sao Paulo, Brazil, a big city that is known by the art spread by its street walls, by the big number of talented graffiti artists and by the originality of the works that spring out everyday. All this creative energy is at ease inside the gallery with its ever changing environment, carefully painted by the artists, what makes each show an installation. Choque Cultural is having a very important role in valuing the new art forms with the cutting edge that is so loved by the youth and so charming to the mainstream. Its secret is the respect it has for the artists, even if they don’t have a conventional professional background, and their proposals, even if they are subversive.
